How does the contest work?
Don’t you think it is time for you to get recognized for your ability to take pictures? We do. That’s why we have planned a full day of exciting photo shoot opportunities, including the chance to get your photos in front of a panel of judges.
The contest rules will be given to you when you register. All photos will be taken onsite so that everyone has a fair chance. We will provide food so that you will not go hungry. Participants will compete in their own age category – 8-11 12-16 17-23. All participants must sign a release form so that we can promote your photos online and in print. (Don’t worry, you retain the copyright to your photos and we’ll give you full credit!)
What is the timeline?
12noon – 12:30pm Registration, Get Acquainted
12:30 – 1:30pm Photography Lesson, Q&A
1:30pm – 4pm Hunt and Shoot
4:00pm – 5:00pm Download, Print, Display
5:00pm – 6:00pm Judging Panel Makes Selections
6:00pm – 7:00pm Prize Ceremony
Do I need my own camera?
You may bring what ever camera you have. It can be a cell phone, point and shoot, SLR, etc. What you will find is that it is the creativity that makes the shot, not necessarily the camera. If you don’t own a camera, we will have one that you can use for the day.
What do I get for participating?
Everyone is a winner! That’s because you will receive a Certificate of Participation that you can use for your portfolio. Girls receive a swag bag. Males receive a goodie bag. All bags include a tShirt.
How are the trophy winners selected?
All participates that submit photos will receive points. Points are given by the judges and by the spectators. Participants with the highest points in their age category are the winners. The top three winners in each category will receive a trophy.
What is the Judges Choice Award?
The judges will select their top three most talented contestants. This is based on overall potential for success in the business. These winners will receive a personal recommendation letter from the judges.
Can I just show up on the day of the contest?
No. All participants must be pre-registered. We need to know how many people to buy food for. 🙂
